About Helping Communities

The goal of Helping Communities is to provide communitiy leaders and other interested citizens with ready access to information and tools that are both grounded in sound theory and readily applied in real-world settings.

At the Centre for Addictions Research of BC, we believe nurturing a healthy community involves promoting health – not just treating or preventing problems. We also recognize there is no one solution to achieve community health and wellbeing. Therefore we are committed to working with communities in the province to help them understand and address the range of multi-level factors that influence health and well-being, including those related to substance use.

The development of this site was made possible through support from the Union of British Columbia Municipalities, the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General, and the Vancouver Foundation.

Current support for the site is provided by the Ministry of Healthy Living and Sport.
