CARBC is committed to research and knowledge exchange that supports the development of effective policy and practice. This involves working with school professionals and a whole range of other partners to identify needs, interpret the evidence and develop tools and resources that assist in the implementation of knowledge. But CARBC is also committed to helping educators and other school professionals maximize the usefulness of available resources by helping to apply and adapt them to unique contexts. Therefore, consultants are available by phone, email and in person to help schools understand and implement the promising practices featured in the Helping Schools resource. We are always glad to provide professional development sessions for teachers and other school professionals as well as public education events for parents and other community members.
Training can include implementation of iMinds. This is a health education resource, developed by CARBC, for students in grade 6 to 10. The learning activities included in iMinds aim to help students maximize their health literacy related to substance use. Consultation on developing a whole school approach to substance use or helping to respond to a particular local challenge is also available.
